Design Your Future
LeadershipWe love teaching and modeling leadership behaviors. We became concerned When 90 % of our students wanted to write or present on the Transformational Leader because that is the only leadership style discussed in some workplaces. They also could not clearly discuss the popular nursing refrain that “every nurse is a leader”. We’d like to engage in discussions and share resources that enhance nursing leadership through a scaffolded journey that promotes a self- reflective and self -aware approach to leadership theories and styles.
Change“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.” Winston Churchill
Self- Directed Leadership supports an individual's personal change and their ability to direct organizational change. Self–directed Leaders understand that change can be good, difficult, chaotic and reaffirming. Embracing and influencing change allows leaders to put people first as a guiding change principle. We’ll explore the need for personal, professional and organization change as platforms for the Self– Directed Leader.
Future Thinking"I Look to The Future Because That Is Where I’m Going to Spend the Rest of My Life." George F. Burns
Looking to the potential of the future as an opportunity to explore social, business, economic and scientific approaches to improve personal, professional and organizational outcomes is congruent with Self-Directed Leadership Theory. Self–Directed Leaders use creativity and innovative thinking to recognize, design and adopt new solutions that benefit their environment.
